Winter Quarterly Report
GOALS
- I will lay groundwork for a Regional Venturing Youth Cabinet to support the Western Region Venturing President.
- I will visit councils within the Western Region to lend support and be an effective resource and promote Venturing, particularly in those eight councils that have no Venturing representation.
- I will work with Charter Organizations and leaders to improve Venturing within the Western Region.
- I will work to improve marketing of the Venturing Program and strive to improve communication within the Western Region.
- I will work with the Western Region’s Area Venturing Training Coordinators to promote quality training for youth and adults.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS / ACTIVITIES
- I attended the Montana Council Powder Horn, a Resource Management Course for adult leaders of scouting programs, from August 10-18 at Grizzly Base Camp in Bigfork, Montana.
- I attended the Montana Council’s quarterly executive board meeting in Helena, Montana on November 10, 2007.
- I have been working in coordination with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena in Helena, Montana to integrate Venturing into the Diocesan Youth Camp, and Diocesan youth ministry.
- I have been working on Facebook, a social networking website frequented by high school and college age students, to build a network of Venturing youth who I may have either direct or indirect contact with to spread information and answer questions. I have been making an effort to promote internet safety in conjunction with my communications work.
- I attended the Western Region Executive Board Meeting in Chandler, Arizona on January 18, 2008.
- I staffed the Mullan Trail District Klondike Derby from January 25-27 in Seeley Lake, Montana.
- I represented Venturing at Scout Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Helena in Helena, Montana.
- I will serve as an assistant manager during the summer season at Tooth of Time Traders at Philmont Scout Ranch.
