Fall Quarterly Report

GOALS

  1. I will communicate with all Regional and Area Boatswains across the country
  2. I will start a Boatswains Blog on the National Venturing Youth Cabinet website to share my adventures with Sea Scouts across the nation
  3. I will communicate with my own cabinet on a regular basis
  4. I will make and promote recruitment and publicity tools
  5. I will promote Sea Scout training programs such as SEAL for the youth and Sea Badge for the adults
  6. I will work towards capturing the essence of Scouting through both youth and adult perspectives and promote it to the public by taking videos and pictures and writing articles on events from the youth perspective
  7. I will personally work to obtain the Quartermaster Award, which is the highest rank in Sea Scouting
  8. I will personally work to obtain the Venturing Silver Award, which is the highest award and recognition in Venturing

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  1. I promoted Sea Scouts at the Sam Houston Area Council Scout Fair
  2. I completed my Quartermaster Sail, a 48 hr sail, which is a requirement for Sea Scouts working towards the Quartermaster Rank
  3. I gave encouraging words to Texas SEAL graduates, a week long extensive leadership training provided to youth who have completed Ordinary Rank and other requirements.
  4. I helped to kick off Preserve Americas Waterway Initiative by taking pictures to promote ways of service for the 100 year anniversary of Sea Scouts in 2012
  5. I laid out goals and worked with the National Venturing Cabinet at our Training in Dallas, and made a promotional video
  6. I worked as Boatswain Mate for Koch Cup for 2008
  7. I answered adult leaders’ questions and presented a PowerPoint about Sea Scouts at Philmont Training Center (PTC) for Venturing Week
  8. I helped out at Venturing is Happening for the Bridge of Honor with the 2008-2009 Southern Region Boatswain, Chelsea DuBose
  9. I started and maintained Sea Scout blog on the National Venturing Youth Cabinet website with pictures of events attended
  10. I took videos of youth at various events
  11. I earned the Council Venturing Leadership Award

Attended the National Council Venturing Reception in honor of Venturing’s 10th Anniversary in Dallas, Texas

  • July 13-19

Staffed the 2008 Koch Cup where I served as Boatswain Mate in Annapolis, Maryland

  • August 2-9

Staffed and answered questions at Venturing Week at PTC in Cimarron, New Mexico

  • September 20

Staffed at Venturing is Happening in Austin, Texas
